| Foster homes provide a short term, loving and stable environment for a Lab Rescue dog while he or she waits to meet their new forever family. When a new lab arrives to lab rescue they've often spent time in shelters or at our vet. Foster families care for our labs while they wait for their new forever homes. Our labs make great additions to your family while they're with you. In addition to the value that a secure foster home adds to a newly rescued lab, foster homes also help us get to know more about the labs we have so that adopters can know their true personalities. Every dog is unique and has their own quirks and traits; our foster homes share stories about the labs they're caring for so that we can share them on our website for adopters. We are always in need of new foster homes. Our ability to rescue more labs is directly related to the number of foster homes that we have. While our vet clinics offer short term shelter services for our labs, it's our goal to move the lab into a foster home so they can blossom into the lab they're meant to be. |

What Kind of Equipment Do I Need?
A warm heart and a love of labs is the number one thing that a foster home needs. But, in addition to that we can help you get some of the equipment that new foster homes need including a crate. Lab Rescue of the LRCP will take care of all the vet care that a new lab needs and if there are follow up appointments for the lab you foster we will cover those as well.
A foster lab enjoys the same toys and food that your own lab loves. So a leash, collar, some toys and kibble are the only other items that you need and if you need help with the leash and collar, just let us know.
How Much Time Does it Take to Foster?
If you already had a lab in your home you may be suprised by just how easy it is to care for a second lab at the same time. A walk might take 5 minutes longer because they both stop to sniff but that's about all the extra time it takes. Otherwise it's double the love and fun!
Isn't It Hard to Give Them Up?
Most Lab Rescue fosters will confess to shedding a tear or two when they give their foster dogs a final kiss goodbye. But, most will also tell you that the the joy they feel at seeing their foster lab find their forever home far outweighs a moment of sadness.
The rewards of fostering a lab and getting an update from their new family telling you that everything is going great are huge.
