Alex (#10435)

Alex is a 4 year old chocolate neutered male. He is up to date on his shots and has started his heartworm treatment. He weighs 77 lbs. He is active, very loyal and loves to fetch. He is house trained but has never been crate trained. He loves attention and people.  Alex had surgery for hygroma and has done well with the bandages.  He will need his dressings changed twice a week for a period of time.  Lab Rescue will cover the cost of the treatment.

Annie (#10418)

Annie is a 12 month old yellow spayed female. She is up to date on her shots and is heartworm negative. She is good with other dogs. She is both house and crate trained. Annie has an ectopic ureter (an abnormally located terminal portion of the ureter. Instead of the ureter opening in the bladder it opens in the urethra, vagina or uterus. The result is a dribbling of urine) that was operated on earlier this year but the leakage hasn't stopped all the way. She might improved if a new family can spend more time keeping it clean and covered with ointment. She is a very sweet and affectionate girl.

Bordy (#10498)

Bordy is a 6 year old yellow neutered male. He is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative. He is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 6 and up. He weighs 70 lbs. He is both house and crate trained but hasn't used the crate since he was a puppy. He sleeps in the bedroom on the floor at night and has the run of the house the rest of the time. He likes to retrieve but isn't a nut about it. He's very affectionate and likes human attention.

She is both house and cratetrained and likes to retrieve. She will chase cats so no cats for her. She knows some commands and needs leash training. She chews toys left out and countersurfs. She's very friendly and loves to be with you.

Delilah is a 3 year old chocolate female. She is up to date with her rabies shot and will be brought up to date with all her shots once she has had her puppies. Delilah is currently 85 lbs and is very pregnant. She is heartworm positive and Lab Rescue will pay for her treatment. She is good with other dogs and cats and is approved for kids aged 7 and up. Delilah is available for adoption but can not join her new forever family until after her puppies are weaned. She is a very easy going girl who gets along with everyone she meets.

Hannah knows her basic commands like heel, sit and down. She is great with people in general. She is dominant with other dogs and would probably do best in a home where she is the only dog. Dispite her age she still loves to pay in the show, chase rabbits outside and take walks.

He currently weighs 80 lbs. He is very sweet; loving and spoiled. He's also very alert and frisky. He wants to jump, run and play with every dog, bird and squirrel that he sees. He needs some training.

Smokey is a 3 year old black neutered male. He is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative. He weighs 96 lbs. He is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 10 and up. He's full of energy and loves to play with tennis balls; he's a great catcher. He pulls a bit on the leash and has been regularly walked off leash in a park and stayed close. He loves to swim.

Yogi is a 2 year old yellow neutered male. He is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative. He is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 10 and up. He weighs 46 lbs. He knows some commands including sit, come, down and shake. He walks ok on a lead. He's a sweet guy who's been kept outside and has some healing fly bites on his ears; the fur may not grow back entirely.





 

Zeus is a 2 year old neutered yellow male. He is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative. He weighs 90 lbs. He is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 6 and up. He is housetrained and cratetrained and is used to being crated up to four hours at a time. He pulls a bit on a leash and probably needs a refresher class on commands. He's a high energy dog who will need lots of exercise.

He weighs 69 lbs but could stand to gain about 5 more. He knows some commands and walks ok a lead. He retrieves a bit but it's not really his main drive. He'd rather hang out with someone resting his head on your feet.

He is both house and crate trained. Chucho knows his commands and has the retriever gene; definitely likes balls. When you first see him you'd think he's around 5 years old then you watch him chase the ball and think, hmm...maybe he's 3. He knows his commands.

Daisy (#10491)

Daisy is a 2 year old black spayed female. She is up to date on her shots and is heartworm negative. She is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 10 and up. She weighs 65 lbs. She knows sit and paw and is very friendly. She seems like a wonderful dog. Daisy is brand new to Lab Rescue. We'll tell you more about her as soon as we can.




 

Dixie (#7216) and Daisy (#7217)

Dixie and Daisy are 8 year old black spayed females. Daisy is 85 lbs and Dixie is 90. They are both up to date on their shots and are heartworm negative. They are good with other dogs after introductions ahve been made and are also good with cats once introduced. They are both house and crate trained although they haven't used crates since they were pupplies. These girls have been together their entire lives and are very close. They must be adopted as a pair. Daisy loves to sit out in the sun and she likes to chase chipmunks, squirrels and birds. Dixie has a metal rod in her front leg but it doesn't give her any problems. She's happiest when she has a toy in her mouth. Dixie also enjoys a good game of fetch.

Hershe gets very excited when neighborhood kids are riding bikes around because he wants to go play with them.

Major is a 7 year old yellow neutered male. He is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative. He is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 7 and up. He weighs 112lbs and needs to lose some weight. He's trim even at 112 but the doctor wants him to lose some weight to reduce strain on his hips. Major needs to go to a home without a cat because he likes to chase them. He knows commands; heel, sit and down and walks well on a leash but can sometimes pull when other dogs are in sight. He is both house and crate trained. Major is an extremely happy dog who loves to be around people and always has a wagging tail. He responds quickly to correction and likes the water. He likes to retrieve and run around the yard.

Dancer and Dana were found together. They are both 3 month old chocolate females waiting to be spayed. They've received their rabies and a couple of other puppy shots and are awaiting their heartworm tests.

Update from Dana and Dancer's foster family 8/3/2010:

Dana and Dancer are perfect puppies!! They are quiet (no whining) and happy girls. Dana is the darker one and Dancer is a lighter chocolate tone more to the red side. All the dogs are getting along fine. Thanks so much for the puppies!!! I love them so.

Honey is a 3.5 year old spayed yellow female, weighing 80 lbs. Current on shots, heartworm negative. Good with dogs, cats, and kids 10+. Honey has a gentle and mellow disposition, and loves to run and play with kids, other dogs, and even cats. She unfortunately loves to escape her backyard, however, and her single mom owner can no longer keep her safely in it. Very calm, very sweet, very friendly.

He is both house and crate trained. He is a bit timid because of the recent changes in his life and Lab Rescue expects him to settle in nicely with a family that has time to focus on him.

Sidney (#10479)

Sidney is a 12 month old black neutered male. He is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative. He is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 5 and up. He weighs 60 lbs. Sidney is a brave fellow who, in early July, wandered up to the house of his rescuers. He appeared to be shot. This kind family took him to the vet who treated his gunshot wound. Today he is doing fine. He is very sweet. No cats though, he thinks that cats and rabbits are prey.

They are both house and crate trained. They have been together all their lives and we would like them to be adopted together. Parker is 76 lbs and Spencer is 78 lbs. Spencer is the more laid back of the two; Parker is more outgoing. They both became the favorites at the shelter they started off with. Spencer hangs back when meeting new people while Parker will be eager to introduce himself. They are both very sweet tempered. Parker likes to get in your lap for a cuddle. Spencer is a people oriented dog who loves long walks and sitting near you.

Watson was living and being cared for by a neighborhood of kind families who fed and played with him. They took him to a shelter who brought him to Lab Rescue. Cody is a 12 month old fox red neutered male. He is up to date on his shots and needs an update on his heartworm test. Cody knows some commands but needs reinforcement because like a typical one year old lab, he can be distracted. He walks well on a leash; he's got lots of energy and wants to go sniff but there's no excessive pulling. He's very laid back for a one year old lab. A real sweetheart.

Abby and Charlie have been together since Charlie was a puppy. We would like to see them adopted out together. Abby is a 3 year old black spayed Lab / Golden Retriever mix who weighs 70 lbs. Charlie is a 3 year old black neutered male who weighs 77 lbs. Both dogs are up to date on their shots and are heartworm negative. They're both house and crate trained, are good with other dogs and with cats and are approved for kids aged 5 and up.

Abby loves everyone and everything she meets. Her disposition is the best, she is great with people of all ages as well as other pets. She is the loyal type and her favorite thing to do is relax with her person, though swimming of any kind is a close second. Abby is sweet and calm, she is the perfect addition to any family that has time and love to give!

Charlie also has a wonderful disposition. His favorite things in life are food, a tennis ball, having his ears rubbed and pleasing his person! He is spunky and loves a good game of fetch but don’t sell him short as he is quite the intelligent fellow that is ready and willing to learn anything you want to teach him. Charlie is wonderful, he just needs a loving home and lots of fun!

Chevy had a bad case of kennel cough which took a couple of weeks to cure. He's feeling fine now and is ready for his new forever home.

He is both house and crate trained although he's had free run of the house. Cocoa knows his commands both by voice and by hand signs. He pulls a bit on a lead. He doesn't chew or get into things and he's very affectionate. Cocoa weighs 93 lbs and could stand to lose a few pounds.

He is approved for kids aged 5 and up. He knows his commands. He is very friendly and loves to eat ice. Dusty was part of a pair that we had hoped to adopt together.  Dusty should be adopted into a home with another dog.

Elliott is a 2 year old neutered chocolate male. He is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative. He is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 10 and up. Elliott weighs 62 lbs. Elliott was abandoned by the side of the road by his owners and find by some dog lovers who got him to a shelter. He is missing a significant amount of hair which we think is because of an untreated skin infection that we're now treating. Dispite his challenges, Elliott is very sweet. He's been wagging his tail the whole time we've had him. He rides well in the car and just wants to give you kisses. He knows how to sit and takes treats gently. He has a great disposition.

Kage is a 7 year old neutered chocolate male. He is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative. He is both house and crate trained and is good with other dogs. He is approved for kids aged 10 and up. He knows his commands and is very good at obeying them. He pulls a bit on a lead when he first sets out on a walk but settles down quickly. Kage likes to be with people and go for walks. He loves to swim and is learning how to retrieve.

Chili, Mustard and Pepper are 17 week old spayed females. Chili is yellow and weighs 26 lbs. Mustard is yellow and weighs 28 lbs and Pepper is black and weighing in at 23 lbs. They are good with other dogs and are probably good with cats. They're approved for kids aged 2 and up. They've all had their first and second puppy shots and have been dewormed. They're very playful. The pictures here were of the puppies after they gave our Lab Rescue volunteer a bath (of course they had a bath too). These sisters did come in together but they can be adopted separately.

Cayenne will pick up as many sticks as she can hold in her mouth and proudly walk around. She's got the retriever instinct showing already. If you toss a toy she will go and get it and return it to you.

He is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 6 and up. Clifford is a gentle giant. He gets along well with everyone and everything. Reeces Pieces is a 6 year old spayed chocolate female. She is up to date on her shots and is heartworm negative. She is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 10 and up. She's the master of the lab lean and put her paw on our Lab Rescue volunteer's thigh as if to say 'help me please'. She has some minor hair loss on her back but that will probably return with some tender loving care. She wiggles like crazy and loves people.

Seneca is an 18 month old spayed black female. She is up to date on her shots and is heartworm negative. Seneca is approved for kids aged 10 and up. She has had limited training and is full of energy. She's responded well to direction for a dog savvy Lab Rescue volunteer. She's learning to walk on a leash but will still nip and tug the leash. Seneca likes to run and play ball in the yard and romps hard with other dogs. She is very affectionate and loves belly rubs and she needs training. She's learning her new skills quickly and it won't take long to turn her into the perfect dog.

Tinker is a 3 year old black spayed female. She is up to date on her shots and is heartworm negative. She weighs 60 lbs and could stand to gain a few pounds. She is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 10 and up. She is both house and crate trained. She knows some commands and walks ok on a lead. She is very friendly and has a nice lab lean. Tinker has some hair loss probably due to a flea allergy. She is on antibiotic and it should clear up.

Bella is a 3 year old black spayed female. She is up to date on her shots and is heartworm negative. She is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 10 and up. Bella is a calm dog who likes to play but doesn't need constant playtime to be happy. She is very cuddly and loving. She is very gentle.

He is both House and crate trained. Sammy came from a home where he lived with a brother who was taken in by another rescue group. The two dogs were very bonded and ideally could reunite. He is a real people dog with wonderful house manners. Don't let his age disuade you; Brady is very active and walks well and takes no medication at all. He's been a well loved and well cared for dog. He's fully trained and loves to retrieve. A real gem.

Sadly, Brady's been very sick lately. His owner's vet did not think he would get well again and recommended that he be put down.

Living in a house is new to Harlow and she's learning house manners from her foster family.

Mae Maloo (#10272)

Mae Maloo is a 5 year old yellow spayed female. She is up to date on her shots and is heartworm negative. She is good with other dogs and has lived with three other labs in the past. She is approved for kids aged 10 and up because we have no kid history. She is both house and crate trained but hasn't been crated for several years. We don't have a cat history for Mae Maloo but she was't interested in the cats she met at the vet. She knows some commands and walk ok on a lead. Mae Maloo is epilepic but her seizures are controlled by an inexpensive medication called phenobarbitol. She has great house manners; doesn't counter surf or chew on anything she shouldn't. She has been enjoying several walks a day around the neighborhood at her foster home.

 

Big John (#7591) 

Big John is a 5 1/2 year old neutered chocolate male. He is up to date on his shots and is heartworm negative. He is good with other dogs and is approved for kids aged 10 and up. He is both house and crate trained. He likes to receive and wants to be a lap lab as he starts off resting his head in your lap, then, if that's ok, up comes the paw and shortly after the rest of him comes up and he will then give you kisses all over your face. He loves to retreive and loves to swim. He will pull limbs from the lake and brings them to shore to play with. He likes to be inside rather than outside alone.
